About Michelle

A recent graduate from Boston University with a master’s degree in theology centered on the study of disability. During Michelle’s academic career, she engaged in advocacy and organizing work across the university, meeting with stakeholders to educate them on the intersections of disability, accessibility, and environmental justice. In addition to having a physical disability herself, Michelle has over ten years of experience working with people with disabilities, making her deeply aware of the housing needs concerning the disabled community. Michelle is passionate about disability activism in all areas of society and is very excited to join what some may call literal “ground-breaking” work pioneered by The Kelsey.

She grew up in Southern California and has a BA from Point Loma Nazarene University and an MA from Boston University. After surviving three winters on the East Coast, she is happy to be a resident of sunny California again.

What part of The Kelsey’s mission are you proudest to be part of / support?

I sincerely believe in The Kelsey’s mission not only because housing in the US is largely inaccessible and unaffordable for people with disabilities, but I believe in its mission because The Kelsey is pioneering a unique housing solution by centering the experiences of persons with disabilities, which I earnestly believe is the first step to authentic change. Proving that disability is not a defect but a source of profound wisdom.
